We've worked hard to ensure that this event falls within the current Stay at Home mandate from the State of Colorado. Exercise is considered an essential activity. This is just meant to be a fun run for a small group of individual runners across the Denver metro area.
Here's how we're adhering to the current state guidelines.
-
Only 1 runner will be permitted to sign up for each segment. Each runner will be permitted to have up to 1 family member (from the same quarantine household) run with them.
-
Each runner will be starting and ending their run within 5 miles of their home. Runners are encouraged NOT to drive to their segment start or end locations.
-
All runners will be required to wear a mask when passing others on any street or trails.
-
Relay transitions will be touch-free, and runners will maintain a distance of at least 6 feet.
Support Denver's Hospitality Industry
Our goal is to rally funds to support workers in the restaurant industry, by collecting donations for Operation Family Meal, a collaborative effort by CHOW (Culinary Hospitality Outreach & Wellness Group), local Denver restaurants, and Khesed Wellness to provide free meals and mental health support to those within our industry that are out of work during COVID-19. Event Description
We’re putting together a fun, free, socially distanced 50k relay from Evergreen, Colorado to the State capitol. This event will be a socially distanced 50k relay. There will only be 1 team (not multiple competing teams), made up of people from across the west Denver metro area.
If we are successful with the first date, future dates may be added.
Only 1 runner will be permitted to sign up for each segment. Each runner will be permitted to have up to 1 family member (from the same quarantine household) run with them.
Format
This will be an informal, single team (made up of various local Denver runners), socially distanced 50k relay. Only 1 total team (of 10 total participants) will complete the event, and only 1 group of up to 2 people will be allowed to participate in each segment. All of the communication will be done virtually.
There are a total of 10 segments, with varying lengths from 2.5 - 4 miles long. They average about 3 miles each. The event will start in North Evergreen, Colorado, in the El Rancho Park N Ride, and it will end on the 13th step of the State Capitol building.

-
You MUST consent to receiving AND responding to direct text messages from the race director.
-
You MUST have a smartphone capable of running Strava, and sharing your location.
-
You MUST also have (or sign up for) a Strava Summit account. Strava offers a free 30-day trial, which you can cancel after the race.
-
You MUST be willing to share your location with the Race director during your segment of the event.
-
If you need to back out of the Race for ANY REASON, you MUST let us know ASAP. We’re all counting on you to make this a success.

-
We’d love it if you’d share on social media! Use instagram tag @denvermicrobrewtour and hashtag #covid50krelay

You must be open to some trial and error! This is a new and free event. We have a pretty good idea of how it will work, but it’s possible there could be some challenges. Just roll with it!

-
The process then restarts, and Runner #2 will start their run on Strava, and immediately share their location with the Race Director, using the “Strava Beacon” feature, and the Race Director will continue to coordinate between Runners, per the steps listed above.
